A Night in the Nave Sleep Out 2026

We are excited to host our next Sleep Out event ‘A Night in the Nave’ at Peterborough Cathedral sponsored by Taylor Wimpey. This is the first ever Sleep Out inside the Cathedral and it will take place on Thursday 19th March 2026. We’re expecting this to be our biggest fundraising event to date. Participants will gain an insight into what being homeless can feel like by sleeping in the cold conditions under the Nave within the Cathedral, or by being in the Cloisters courtyard – the choice is yours.

Our last Sleep Out fundraising event saw over 50 people take part at Peterborough United football stadium and raise £20,000 (including GiftAid). This time, we’re expecting more people taking advantage of such an unique opportunity to sleep within Peterborough Cathedral, one of the finest Norman cathedrals in Europe. Founded as a monastic community in 654 AD, it became one of the most significant medieval abbeys in the country, the burial place of two queens and the scene of Civil War upheavals. Whether you’re keen in history or not, this really is a wonderful chance to try a new experience whilst raising money for two good causes. All proceeds will be split 80:20 between LPP and Peterborough Cathedral. Your contribution will help those who are in desperate need within Peterborough as well as help maintain the running of the city’s most iconic landmark.

What to expect

We aim to provide an insightful experience for all participants by offering food and drink which we typically give to our guests every day at the Garden House. However, as it is an event, we will have live entertainment and activities such as a quiz. There will also be the opportunity to hear from some of our event sponsors as well as those who we currently are, or have previously supported, in their homelessness journey. Recommended items to bring:

    • Sleeping bag (tents are not allowed)

    • Several layers of clothing (including a jumper/hoody and coat)

    • Woolly hat, scarf and gloves

    • Winter/thick socks

    • Cardboard to lay on (some will be made available)

    • Travel/reusable mug
