Volunteer with us

Would you like to volunteer your time to help others? Do you want to be part of a wonderful team?

Without volunteers, Light Project Peterborough would not be as it is. Enabling and equipping volunteers is an integral part of the work of the charity and wherever possible we want to join with others to make our city a better place.

People get involved with volunteering for various reasons. It’s a great way to build your skills and confidence as well as being able to give back to the community. You also gain a sense of being part of a team and making new friendships.

Some people volunteer as one of our Street Chaplains. They go around the city both day and night helping and talking to those needing immediate help.

We also love to see those we have helped in the past wanting to give something back. Some of our volunteers help form the Peer Support team and they enable us to engage better with those currently struggling on the streets. This is because they know exactly how it feels to be homeless and can share their experiences with others.

A quote from Norma saying "I've been volunteering with Light Project Peterborough for four years. I started volunteering at the Garden House welcoming guests and recently became a House Chaplain to staff, volunteers and guests. A listening ear, a cup of coffee and a kind word can make a big difference to someone who is having a difficult time.

Celebrating our volunteers

On Tuesday 7th May 2024, we held a Celebration Evening for our volunteers and supporters to show our appreciation and to say thank you.

It was a lovely to see so many people come together. Certificates were given out to volunteers who have supported us for a year or more.
