Would you like to help support your community and make a real difference to people’s lives?

Fundraising for Light Project Peterborough will help us to continue delivering our projects and providing hope to those who need it most. There are many ways to fundraise for us – from walks to skydives, swims to cycles and much more!

You could enter an organised event such as the Great Eastern Run. In 2023, over £5,000 was raised through staff, volunteers and supporters taking part in the 5km and Half Marathon races.

On 8th March 2024, in partnership with The Posh Foundation, we organised Peterborough’s Big Sleep Out event where over 60 people slept out at Peterborough United football stadium to raise awareness of homelessness and to experience for themselves what it feels like to sleep rough for a night. Some participants took part virtually and chose to sleep out in their gardens. Altogether, over £27,000 was raised!

We’ve also had Ava-Zhané at just five years old, raise over £200 by doing a 10 mile scooter challenge, holding a bake sale and an hour’s silence. To see someone so young wanting to raise money and help those in need within her community, provides such inspiration that we can make Peterborough a better place for all.

Ready to start fundraising?

Once you’ve decided on your activity or challenge, it’s time to set up a fundraising page. You can do so on JustGiving and takes only a few minutes.

Firstly, set up a Just Giving account and after completing your registration, click ‘start fundraising’ in your dashboard. If you already have an account then simply log in.

Setting up the fundraising page:

When asked ‘Are you fundraising for a registered charity?’, select ‘Yes, continue’
Search for the cause you want to support. (Light Project Peterborough – thank you!)
If you can’t see your event listed, select ‘Add your own’ at the bottom of the page
Choose your web address – this is the link you’ll be sharing to raise money
Tick ‘Yes’ if you’re running a bake sale, or selling tickets to an event, raffle or auction. Donations to your Page won’t be eligible for Gift Aid. Click this link to find out more.
Click ‘Create your page’

Let us help you spread the word

When you’ve set up your page, please tag our social media accounts in any posts relating to your challenge or activity so we can help spread the word.

Host an event

Art exhibitions, quizzes, tea parties, and carol services are just a few of the fun ways that our supporters have raised funds for us in the past. Why not get your church, community group, workplace, or school involved and host an event of your own?
