We’re excited to launch our Big Sleep Out event which will take place on Friday 8th March 2024 at Peterborough United’s football stadium. This event will give participants an insight into what homeless people experience every night.
By taking part, you’ll make a big difference in increasing awareness of homelessness as well as raising vital funds to help those who are in desperate need within Peterborough.
The Sleep Out will also be supported and organised with the Posh Foundation who are passionate about helping those who are homeless or sleeping rough within the city. Funds raised will be split between the two charities.
If you’re aged 18 or older then you can participate in the Big Sleep Out at Peterborough United’s stadium.
Please register your place by visiting our Eventbrite page as there are only 100 spaces available.
This allows us to keep track of who’s attending, helps with raffle entries and lets us know if you have any allergies with regards to refreshments and if you need support with accessibility.
Everyone who has registered and raises £100 or more before 10pm on Thursday 7th March 2023 will be entered into a raffle where prizes include:
– 1x signed Peterborough United shirt
– a hospitality ticket to a Peterborough United match for two people
– 3x pairs of Peterborough United match tickets
– 1x £20 Peterborough United club shop voucher
7pm – participants can start to enter the stadium
8pm – last entry for participants
8:30pm – food provided
9pm – hear from those with first hand experience of homelessness
9:15pm – live music
11:30pm – lights out
7am – breakfast of bacon rolls (including vegetarian option) and a hot drink to be provided
8am – the event finishes and all participants to vacate
There is a list of FAQs (pdf 137kb) for you to read through but should you require any further information or if you have any questions, please email matt.edgley@lightprojectpeterborough.org.uk.
If you can’t join us at the stadium, you can still take part!
We will be going live on social media throughout the evening, so wherever you are, we can still be united. Furter details about our live stream will be given in due course.
You can use alternative locations such as sleeping out in the garden with your family and friends, sleeping on the sofa or ask whether your school would be willing to host a sleep out.
With the weather in the UK being unpredictable, it is important to consider how your event would work in bad weather. It’s advisable to have a suitable indoor space as a back up option should the weather become severe.
Register your Sleep Out so we know you’re taking part and we can send you an Info Pack containing information about our work, the impact you’ll have on homelessness and advice to ensure you have a safe and insightful experience.
Everyone who has registered and raises £50 or more before 10pm on Thursday 7th March 2023, will be entered into a raffle where prizes include:
– 1x signed football by Peterborough United players
– 1x £20 Peterborough United club shop voucher
– 3x 1 day Posh Foundation summer school vouchers
The prize draw will be conducted on Friday 8th March 2024 with winners contacted on Monday 10th March 2024.

Between April 2022 and March 2023, 629 individuals visited The Garden House needing support and every month since then more people are being presented to us as homeless.
To reduce and prevent homelessness, we need to work together to help make Peterborough a better place for everyone.
We hope by spending a night outside or in unnormal conditions, this will encourage participants to sympathise with those who are enduring such environments every night.
